The gallery is thrilled to present it’s first solo show by artist Kristin Kwan. Kwan’s work also contains themes that both intrigue and disquiet at the same time. Her astonishing technical virtuoso combined with dreamy surrealistic themes mesmerize as if frozen stills from a strange cinematic dream.
Inspired both by the natural world and by legends and myths, using elements of fantasy and allegory to explore themes of life, death, and rebirth. Kristin is a graduate of Union College in Lincoln, NE. She is the 2022 grand prize winner of the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize. When not in the studio, she can usually be found riding her bike around town, or through the woods, where inspiration is most easy to come by. She currently lives in Lincoln, NE.

“Everything flows. The work I have made for this show, “Book of Changes”, is rooted in the idea that nothing holds still for long, like a river it is always moving and reshaping itself, the very process of creating something is never the same twice. Through these pieces I meditated on cycles of eroding and building, new forms emerging from old shells. In these paintings I try to express the beauty of transformation and of finding home and peace in the midst of the flowing river itself. “ - Kristin Kwan
