Roq la Rue is very pleased to present a new solo exhibition by New York based artist Travis Louie. Entitled “Biodiversity”, Travis Louie’s hypnotic “Portraiture” is compelling for its blend of the hyper realistic with the blatantly unreal. Fantastical creatures gaze out from paintings so technically refined (created by using layers of acrylic paint over a tight graphite sketch) that they look uncannily like old photographs or daguerrotypes. This new show continues with his unusual cast of eccentric characters who come complete with amusing backstories.
