"The Great Passage" by Kris Kuksi

For October, Roq la Rue offers up a group show of artists working in dark imagery or subject matter. Kris Kuksi, inspired by a meeting with his father who was on his deathbed, has created baroque paintings based on the soul's progression to the afterlife. Charles Krafft will be showing some of his notorious "Spone" - human bone china reliquaries and objects d'art. H.R. Giger shows a rare silkscreen print of a dark cityscape.

"Lamentum" by Daniel Martin Diaz

Daniel Martin Diaz shows drawings inspired by Catholicism and alchemy, while Dan Schwarz's stunning steel sculpture is inspired by the lines of a cadaver. Dan Brereton shows exquisite watercolors of dangerous vamps and dead vixens. Kenny Montana built his own red velvet lined coffin which includes all the amenities needed for an eternity in heaven (or hell). Art Garcia has created urns with a Route 66 theme. Brent Golden shows paintings featuring shadowy undead characters. Boomer is showing a hand-carved tombstone object d'art made from marble and soapstone, while Scott Saw shows elegant silkscreens.

Wayne Martin Belger's pin hole photography of roadside alters is made with cameras he builds completely by hand. These cameras are all unique and serve as types of altars themselves, embedded with trinkets and mementos (including one that contains a formaldehyde tank with a human
heart in it).
